Thought

So, my most recent thought is house and child protection. I am going to have two young children and a teenager to protect by the end of the year. Obviously being short, fat, and at the moment pregnant, I am not going to instill any fear in a burgler or ruffian. So, I'm obviously left with my firearm. I'm just wondering if it is safe to practice with it while I'm pregnant. That's a pretty loud noise and it's not like I can put ear protection on the baby! Not exactly how to broach that question with my new OB though...

More Motivation

Well boys and girls, I just got more motivation for prepping. Seems I'm in the family way and with one more mouth to feed, butt to diaper, and baby to protect, I'm going to have to change some of my plans. The garden will need to grow, supplies on hand will need to be modified, and ways to defend my house/family updated. While I won't be outrunning any zombies this year, I will be working on my aim.

Seeds

Well, my iPad seems to be working again. I've finally pulled myself away from my video game, and winter is in full gear. I just realized I should probably consider ordering some seed catalogs. Not the normal hybrid ones, but the heirloom seed ones. Those stay true and you can save the seeds for next year. Hybrids apparently do not breed true, so when TSHTF I want to be able to put food on the table. I dream of a hobby farm one day, but need to take one day at a time. A couple chickens, maybe even some goats, sheep, maybe even a cow would be great. However, I m currently a city dweller, so a garden it is.

Hello boys and girl. Sorry for the delay, but I had to lay low for a while. The men in black came around and I had to chill for a while. (Or, I could just be really addicted to a video game right now. :) )Anyway, so far the holidays have managed to derail my prepping. No extra money when I have Christmas and one of my kid's birthdays all within a few weeks of each other. Also, getting in shape has been a hassle. I've been gorging on chocolate (my kryptonite)and I've been plagues with various aches and pains. However, eventually I will have the opportunity to really get prepping, and that is something I look forward too!

Prepping on a Budget

So, TEOTWAWKI (the end of the world as we know it) is coming. How do you prepare? Better yet, how do you prepare on a tight budget? Well, the way I'm doing it is by buying reference books and looking for the easiest and cheapest solutions. Sure, I'd love to buy a farm, farm animals, and all kinds of alternative energy creating toys, but that is not going to happen. I plan to buy books to reference, and hopefully take some classes, to learn useful skills. And I'd like to have items I may not be able to use, but another survivor may be able to for the benefit of us all. Surgery tools, dental tools, extra fabric. If we can't get items we need, like clothes or soap, we had better know how to make it!

Cold!

Well boys and girls, I made it out of my office, just in time. However, now I have another issue. It's winter, and it is cold! In my hurry to flee, I forgot my phone, and more importantly, my jacket and car keys! Are there any other living beings about? No, it looks like everyone has fled. Are there zombies about? You betcha! So how do I get home to my prepper paradise before I freeze or get eaten? Any suggestions?

Office Scenario

Well, it is eerily silent as I type this. It is my late week to work and everyone else in the office has gone home for the weekend, even the receptionists. All you hear is the humming of the heating going on and off. When we normally have over 100 in the office at a time, you can imagine how odd the silence sounds. Now imagine the shatering of glass, followed by the shuffling of feet. You are in cubicle world, so you can't pinpoint where it is coming from, and it is too dangerous to poke your head up over the cubicles because you might be seen. Are you armed? What can you use at your desk that might protect you from the walking dead? Is there anything around you that you can use? How will you get back to your home? Is there anyone left alive at home? Think, run, survive....
